Privacy Policy — Slipwise
Last updated: October 26, 2026 · Effective date: October 26, 2026
TL;DR: Your receipts, photos, amounts, shops, notes, and mileage trips are stored encrypted on your phone and are never sent to RockingCoders. There is no account. Receipt text is read on the device. The app uses Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics and crash reports (you can switch this off), Google Play for subscriptions and updates, and, on the free plan only, one Google AdMob banner.
This page is the privacy policy for Slipwise: Receipt Scanner (com.rockingcoders.slipwise), published by RockingCoders. It does not cover our other apps; those are described in the main RockingCoders privacy policy.
1. Who we are
Developer on Google Play: RockingCoders
Email: rockingcoders62@gmail.com
2. Your receipts stay on your phone
- Receipt photos, totals, taxes, dates, shops, categories, notes, the text read from receipts, and mileage trips are stored only on your device.
- The database is encrypted with AES-256 (SQLCipher) and photos with AES-256-GCM. The keys are protected by your phone’s Android Keystore.
- Text recognition (Google ML Kit) and receipt reading run on the device. Google Play services may download the on-device recognition model; your photos are not uploaded.
- We have no server that stores receipts and no account system. We cannot see, recover, or delete your receipts.
3. What is collected
We never ask for your name, email, phone number, precise location, or contacts. The following is collected by Google services built into the app:
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous events such as “a receipt was saved”, “a scan was read”, “a spreadsheet was exported”, or “the paywall was shown”, with non-identifying details (for example whether the total needed a check, the export format, or a rounded receipt count), plus app version, device model, coarse region, and a resettable app instance ID. It never includes receipt contents, amounts, shops, dates, notes, photos, file names, or the text read from receipts, and Slipwise does not let Analytics use your advertising ID.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reports: stack trace, app version, Android version, device model, and a Crashlytics installation ID.
- Firebase Remote Config — downloads two settings: whether the free-plan banner is on, and the minimum supported app version.
- Google AdMob (free plan only) — see section 5.
- Google Play Billing — if you subscribe to Slipwise Pro, Google Play handles the payment. The app only learns whether Pro is active; we never receive your payment details.
Debug builds used for development send nothing. If you email us for support, we receive your address and what you choose to send, and use it only to reply.
4. Google services and the internet permission
Scanning, reading, saving, searching, and exporting receipts work without the internet. The internet permission is used only for:
- Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Remote Config (section 3). Data goes to Google as our service provider and is kept according to Google’s retention settings for our project.
- Google Play Billing and Play In-App Updates (to offer a newer version). If you choose to rate Slipwise or open one of our other apps, the app opens Google Play; if you choose to send feedback, it opens your email app with the app version and device model filled in, and we receive only what you send.
- Google AdMob and its consent tool (free plan only).
- Google Play services, which may download the on-device text-recognition model and the document scanner.
These services are operated by Google under Google’s privacy policy.
5. Ads and consent
The free plan shows one labeled banner on the dashboard. Ads never appear on the scan or review screens, and Slipwise Pro never loads the ads SDK. Google AdMob may use your device’s advertising ID, app set ID, IP address (to estimate your general location), ad interactions, and diagnostic information to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. In the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and US states that require it, Google’s User Messaging Platform asks for your choice first; you can change it later in Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices. We never send receipts, amounts, shops, photos, or file names to AdMob. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
6. Permissions
- No camera or photo permission. The scanner is Google’s document scanner, which runs on the device, and gallery photos are opened only when you share or pick them.
- Internet and network state: for the Google services in section 4. Never used to upload receipts.
- Notifications (optional): only if you turn on reminders (unsaved scans, weekly and monthly summaries, tax dates). They are worked out on your phone from your own receipts; nothing is sent to us or to a notification server, and amounts are hidden on the lock screen. You can switch each reminder off in Settings → Reminders.
- Biometric: only if you turn on App lock (fingerprint or device PIN). Your fingerprint never leaves Android’s secure hardware.
- Advertising ID: used by AdMob on the free plan. You can reset or delete it in Android settings.
- Google Play Billing: for the optional subscription.
7. Exports and backups
Spreadsheets, PDF reports, shared receipt photos, and backups are created only when you ask, and go only where you send or save them. Backups are encrypted with a password you choose; we cannot recover it.
Automatic backup (optional, off until you turn it on): Slipwise writes an encrypted copy of your receipts and photos to a folder you pick, once a week. It also keeps a small encrypted copy of your receipts (without photos) inside the app, which Android’s own device backup may save to your Google account so a new phone can restore it. Both copies are encrypted with your backup password before they leave the app; neither we nor Google can read them. Turning automatic backup off deletes the small copy. Once you send a file to someone else (for example your accountant or a cloud drive), their handling of it is governed by their own policies.
8. Your choices
- Turn off Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage stats to stop Analytics and crash reports.
- Change ad consent in Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices, or remove ads with Slipwise Pro.
- Delete receipts in the app, or uninstall Slipwise to remove all of its data from your phone.
9. Children
Slipwise is a finance tool for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Your rights
We keep no personal profile for Slipwise and cannot link Analytics or crash data to you. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete personal data; because your receipts exist only on your device, you control them directly. To delete a support email you sent us, write to rockingcoders62@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my email.”
11. Changes
We may update this policy when the app or the law changes; the date at the top will change. Slipwise helps you organize records and is not tax advice.
